Sarga Silks

Sarga Silks are a type of specialized fabric used in a unique form of bodywork and massage therapy called "Sarga Bodywork."

 

This technique involves using silk fabric (Sarga) attached to a massage table, allowing the practitioner to apply deep, broad, and sustained pressure using their feet, body weight, and movements. The silk provides a grip, enabling the therapist to deliver a more effective and controlled massage, particularly in deep tissue and myofascial release treatments.

Contraindications:

Sarga Silks utilizes compressive force* and requires clients to be relatively healthy and injury free. *Compressive force is the application of power, pressure, or exertion against an object which causes it to be compressed or compacted. Please consult your doctor to determine if deep compressive bodywork is appropriate for you.

Sarga Silks should not be performed on the following:

  • Clients attempting to conceive or pregnant

  • Breasts implants within a year (may vary)

  • Cushing's disease, varicose or compromised veins

  • Skin inflammations including but not limited to weeping eczema, psoriasis, injuries, open wounds, lesions such as sunburn and rashes

  • Tuberculosis, thrombosis, kidney disorders, recent surgeries

  • Any acute inflammatory conditions such as active phlebitis, cellulitis or lupus

  • Rib fracture, osteopenia or osteoporosis in any stage

  • Guillain-Barre' Syndrome or any disorder that causes loss of feeling or weakness

  • Recent cancer patients

  • Rheumatoid arthritis (if swelling or painful joints are present)

  • Certain diabetic cases

  • Clients on Coumadin, Lovenox, Heparin or heavy aspirin

  • Persons with history of blood clots, deep vein thrombosis,

  • Recent injections of substances at joint or muscle junctures

  • Recent joint surgery within a year

  • Hypermobile or limited ROM clients

  • Fibromyalgia, MS, Parkinson's

  • Any joint issues, knee or hip replacements

  • Vetebral spinal surgeries and conditions including but not limited to: rods, screws, pins, lumbar laminectomy, spinal fusion, spondylolisthesis

  • History of ruptured or herniated discs

We will require your doctor's consent for the following:

  • Recent surgeries within a year

  • Frozen shoulder

  • Collarbone issues, recent whiplash within a year

  • Tendonitis or internal inflammation around joints

  • Scoliosis, kyphosis, lordosis
